Dr. Kim Pendleton - Principal
Dr. Pendleton brings a wealth of knowledge from her tenure at Northwood High School where she worked intensively to increase career and technical opportunities for students while also partnering with teachers to increase training aligned to recent changes in state standards,
Her resume includes noteworthy accolades such as reducing academic failures at campuses she has served by up to 69 percent and increasing graduation rates by up to 10 percent in a single year. After 13 years of experience as a classroom science teacher, she began her first administrative role in 2009 at Huntington High School and moved to Northwood in 2012.
In addition to her work in Caddo, Dr. Pendleton is respected across the region for her role with various groups including serving as the lead school team evaluator as part of the AdvancED accreditation team, the leading accreditation agency for K-12 and university schools and systems. Among Dr. Pendleton’s top goals for Southwood she cited means of continuing to build the school’s biotech magnet program, intertwine career and technical industry-based certifications with courses offered at the campus and improving brand awareness and recognition of the school.
Mrs. Alice White is native of Shreveport, Louisiana. She is no stranger to rigorous instruction, and attended Eden Gardens, Caddo Middle Magnet, and Caddo Magnet High School.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of New Orleans. She later obtained her teacher certification in Secondary English from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. Mrs. White also received dual Masters’ degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership from Capella University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education from Capella University.
Mrs. White began her educational career twelve years ago, when she began teaching at Turner Elementary/Middle School. In her tenure at Turner, she served as a sixth and seventh grade English Language Arts/Reading teacher and was Student Council sponsor.
Mrs. White then moved on to teach at North DeSoto High School. While teaching at NDHS, she taught English I, English IV,AP Literature and Composition. Mrs. White was also the outgoing head cheer coach, and under her leadership the squad won first place in competitions for five years straight.
Her administration journey began at Woodlawn Leadership Academy. It is there that she was a part of improving Woodlawn’s School Performance Score from a D to a C. Mrs. White believes in servant leadership and does what she can to meet the needs of staff, parents, and most importantly students.
Mrs. White is a member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and Top Ladies of Distinction. She is also a member of Lake Bethlehem Baptist Church. In her spare time, Mrs. White enjoys spending time with her husband Antwoine friends, and family. She also enjoys shopping, reading, traveling, and watching football and basketball.
Mrs. White’s educational philosophy is driven by Nelson Mandela’s words, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” She is dedicated to being a lifelong learner and ensuring that Southwood is providing a learning experience that promotes academic, social, and life skills so that students can be confident and self-directed citizens in society.
Mrs. White is certainly proud to be a part of the Southwood family, and is extremely dedicated to promoting rigorous instruction at The Ranch.
Mrs. Alice White - Assistant Principal of Instruction
Mr. Greg Panos – Assistant Principal of Discipline
Greg Panos is excited to be joining Southwood’s Administration for the 2021-2022 school year. He previously served as Assistant Principal at two other local high schools before coming to Southwood. He looks forward to supporting the high academic expectations at The Ranch, where students can learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment.
Rosie Weston-Hudson – Assistant Principal of 9th Grade
Mrs. Rosie Weston-Hudson is a graduate of the former Reuben McCall Senior High School (Madison High School) of Tallulah, LA. She received her undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA and her graduate degree in education from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA. She also completed additional studies at Boston University and Louisiana Tech University.
Before entering the field of education, Mrs. Weston-Hudson was employed in software development and circuit design at MIT Lincoln Laboratories in Lexington, MA. She has been employed as a mathematics instructor in the Fair Park Medical Careers Magnet Program and at Huntington High School. She has also served as Counselor at the former Oak Terrace/J.B. Harville Middle School, Law and Business Magnet Program Coordinator at Huntington High School, Assistant Principal at the former Oak Terrace/J.B. Harville Alternative School and Principal of the former M. J. Moore Math-Science Middle School.
She has been recognized as High School Teacher of the Year and Counselor of the Year. She is married to Dr. Robert C. Hudson. They have three children and one grandchild.
Administrative Assistant/Director of MST and Biotech Programs
Mrs. Berry has been an educator in Caddo Parish Schools for 21 years. In addition to being a teacher and administrator, she has also served as a Science Master Teacher, Coordinator of the Science, Medicine and Academic Research Training program (SMART) and as a Seminar leader with the New Teacher Project. Mrs. Berry is happy to serve as Administrative Assistant and Director of the Biotechnology Magnet Program at Southwood High School supporting teachers, students and parents.
Mrs. Berry graduated from Northwood High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Science Education from Centenary College of Louisiana. She earned her Master of Education degree from the University of Phoenix. In addition, Mrs. Berry completed the National Institute for School Leadership (NISL) in 2018. Mrs. Berry is happily married to Kris Berry and together they have four children. She enjoys going on cruises, camping, listening to music and spending time with her friends and family.
