MST Program
The Math, Science and Technology Program addresses the need of preparing students to meet the 21st century technology demands of post-secondary education and employment in Northwest Louisiana by improving access to and knowledge of technology to students and enhancing professional development of teachers and students in both discovery-based, student-centered instruction and technology proficiency. The Mathematics, Science & Technology Program (MST) incorporates cutting edge technologies to be used across curriculum areas. The program’s focus is rich in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) integration. Teachers of all disciplines learn to incorporate technology which engages students as active learners and as collaborative, problem-solvers. To date, over 10,000 students and 250 teachers in grades K-12 have participated in MST program initiatives.
During the 2015-2016 school year, the MST Program has developed “new” partnerships with LSU-Shreveport, Northwestern State University – Natchitoches, Norton Art Gallery, and the Digital Media Institute to develop meaningful professional development, trainings, and competitions for both teachers and students. The MST program is currently looking to expand partnerships within the community which support its goals and objectives.
