Boys Basketball
Brandon Gultery is entering his first season as head boy’s basketball coach for the Southwood Cowboys.
The Cowboys are looking to experience tremendous success during Gultery’s tenure as head coach. Gultery’s player-coach style is looking to program build at Southwood with student character, academic accolades, and athletic success. Coach Gultery grew up watching an icon in the coaching world as a kid in his own home, his father. Coach Robert Gultery Sr. has always been a winner, becoming a model for his son Brandon.
Prior to joining Southwood, Gultery’s coaching success started back in 2012, where he was an Assistant Coach at Class 5A Frisco Centennial for three years in Frisco, Texas, and completed four years in Louisiana at boys powerhouse Carroll High School as an Assistant Coach where the team made the state tournament in 2017. Gultery received his first head coach position in 2018 at Madison Parish High School in his hometown of Tallulah, Louisiana where he lead a rebuilding young girls team to a District 2-3A Championship (20-15 record) and to the Quarterfinals in the State Tournament as a 24th seed in the playoffs as we were defended by the State Champions.
Gultery is a 2004 graduate of McCall High School in Tallulah, Louisiana where he was a four-time district champion in basketball and 2001 State Champion in Class 2A. Two things in his playing career that he learned from his former high school Legendary Head Coach Mitchell Riggs is “to be the hardest working team in the state”, and “If God is for us, Who can be against us, Nobody!” Coach Gultery takes those pointers into his coaching path as he enter the Ranch.
Gultery has three beautiful children, Baleigh, Kylea, and Kyler.
We're excited about the upcoming season and we plan to build on our Quarterfinal run in the LHSAA playoffs. We are working tirelessly to pursue a LHSAA Class 5-A State Championship with hard work and developing the character of our young men daily.Without your continued support, we are not able to keep this program growing in the right direction.
