Head Coach
Coach Hearne
Jay Hearne graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1996 where he was a member of the varsity baseball and basketball teams. He was also a member of the National Honor Society. Coach Hearne then attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where majored in and graduated in Business Administration-Accounting. In 2014, after spending ten years in the accounting industry, Coach Hearne became the head baseball coach at Doyline High School where he spent two years. In 2016 he joined the staff at Southwood High School.
He has been married to his wife Summer for 23 years. They have 3 children - Parker, Cooper, and Brooke.
Assistant Coach
Brian Harvey graduated from Bossier High School in 1992, where he was a member of the varsity baseball and basketball teams. He was also a member of the National Honor Society. Coach Harvey attended Bossier Parish Community College where he played baseball for Paul Wallace and Joe St. Andre. Coach Harvey continued his playing career at Louisiana State University in Shreveport where he played for David Elledge. Coach Harvey graduated from Louisiana State University in Shreveport with a degree in Art. Coach Harvey is entering his 19th year of teaching and coaching at the high school level. Coach Harvey began his teaching and coaching career at North Caddo Magnet High School where he spent four years. Upon leaving North Cadoo, Coach Harvey joined the baseball staff at Southwood High School where he spent six years coaching and teaching at the Ranch. Coach Harvey left Southwood and joined the baseball staff at his alma mater Bossier High School. Cach Harvey spent the last eight years coaching and teaching at Bossier High School.
He has been married to his wife Courtney for 18 years. They have two beautiful girls, Hannah and Isabelle.

Coach Averitt
Austin Averitt graduated from Parkway High School in 2014 where he was a member of the varsity baseball, football, and powerlifting teams. He was also an FCA Officer and a member of the Red Jacket Ambassadors. Coach Averitt then attended Northwestern State University where he majored in and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies. In the Spring of 2020, Coach Averitt joined the staff at Southwood High School.
Assistant Coach
Jaxon Clark graduated from Southwood High School in 2019 where he played varsity baseball. He was an academic All-American maintaining a 4.0 all four years. He moved on to play college baseball at Mountain View College from 2019-2020 where he was an academic all-conference player. He will be finishing up his associate degree in secondary education in the spring of 2021 and is officially joining the Southwood Baseball Coaching staff.

Southwood Baseball team worked with an organization called Feed the Homeless - The players go every Saturday to give back to our Community.
