Coach Dean Smith is a Ouachita High and Northwestern State graduate, the 37-year-old Smith coached under Pat Collins at Ouachita before moving over to Wossman. He had just one losing season at Wossman (2-8 in 2017) while his 2016 team was 7-3. The Wildcats finished 5-5 during the past two regular seasons, and his 2019 team defeated Northwood 43-30 during the season.
